According to Beglaryan, before the revolution, Armenia was the most loyal outpost of Russia: «Putin told Pashinyan, ‘Kocharyan is my friend,’ Pashinyan replied, ‘I’m sorry that you have such friends.’ Putin is a spiteful and vindictive person. They dictated to Armenia what to do. They took enterprises from the hands of the Republic of Armenia for pennies. They consider the Republic of Armenia to be part of the Russian empire.»
Beglaryan does not rule out that Russia will try to provoke instability in Armenia: «I do not rule out that they will try to achieve something through violence, I do not even rule out that they will use weapons, gather people, try to seize government buildings. Russia is thinking of taking 10-20 thousand people out onto the streets after the Constitutional Court’s decision, inciting riots.»
