According to political scientist David Stepanyan, at the moment the interests of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation do not coincide, both in military-political and economic terms.
According to him, in terms of military-political relations, Russia no longer plays a role here, but it continues to inhibit the economic development of Armenia, just as the military one did.
“Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Yekaterinburg is a prelude to the meeting with Putin. I continue to insist that Putin will congratulate Pashinyan in the form of a statement or a handshake. If the prime minister goes, Putin shakes his hand, then he recognizes the election results,” he says.
According to the interlocutor, Russia wants to participate in the processes where Armenia and the United States are present, namely TRIPP. “It is imprinted in their minds that Armenia is theirs.”
Turning to domestic political issues, Stepanyan notes that the opposition knew that the Constitutional Court would reject it.
